Sweaters, Scarves, Bag Ladies and Babies!

Fall is here and Im loving every second of the weather change. I love wearing leggings with scarves, over sized sweaters, leg warmers, furry boots, basically anything a glam bag lady would be caught wearing (if that is such a thing) is what I love for fall. #LAYERS. Last week we went to see "Titi Rach" again in Newport. The weather was amazing,  and this time my brother came with us and we had a blast. Liliana totally loves her "Duncle". We rented a boat the first day and saw a bunch of seals, ate some good meals, played on the beach, visitied the Santa Ana Zoo, and just kicked it. There are two non traditional malls or "anti-malls" about 15 minutes from my sisters place in Newport, they are in Costa Mesa and they are awesome. The Camp and The Lab. I got some really cute skeleton leggings from a store at The Lab, you can find the same ones here I also got matching ones for Lili, you can find toddler ones here. We wore them the same day and so many people stopped us asking where we got them. If you are in orange county and like hipster stuff I'd check out both of these places. LAB stands for Little American Business and thats exactly what they are all about, super awesome!

Another look I thought was cute was the bag lady-ish, layered look. I got these really cute leggings from the kids section of H&M, im a zero in pants normally and the kids 11-12 fit me perfect. Obviously the leggings run really big, I got matching ones for Lili size 1 1/2-2 yr and they are actually long on her, a rare occurrence for my baby giraffe.  The H&M leggings were around 17$ You can shop H&M online but I found similar ones here.  I paired the leggings with some comfy slip on leather boots that I bought in Europe last year, Minnetonka's would be cute too, here are some I found on Nordstrom.com, omg and im soooo getting Lili these!  Had to post the pic because they are too adorable!
I wore a plain tank underneath and an oversized sweater from forever 21, similar one here by Hinge at Nordstrom. I accessorized with a grey infinity scarf like this one from american apparel. Bottom picture features the pants with my new ISABEL MARANT wedge sneakers, they are sold out everywhere. I ordered mine from a site called lagarconne.com they also have similar ones here and here

Date night at Guy Savoy!

Last thursday night David made a reservation at Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace where we splurged on the thirteen course "Innovation" tasting. In addition to it being our choice for date night, it was also a celebration, I quit my juice cleanse! I ordered 18 juices from Pressed Juicery, prepared for a few days before, ate only raw the day before and then made it through a day and a half before being tempted at Arielle's bridal shower by the delicious Cafe Rio chicken enchiladas. I felt like a total failure but I also felt soooo satisfied by that first bite of actual food in days! The juices from Pressed are absolutely delicious I totally recommend their cleanses, I just couldn't deal with the headaches that are a part of the detoxing and non eating process. Some people don't experience this, I totally did (maybe I wasn't drinking enough H2O). Either way it sounded amazing, I couldn't handle the fasting but if you have the will power check them out, David did the cleanse and continued to eat vegan for eleven days after his cleanse so its totally possible.

So for date night I wore a really cute American Apparel dress in "shiny peach", with a French Connection cardigan (last season) but there is a similar one here, I paired a black skinny belt and black thigh highs which gave it a little french flair. I also work mid rise brown booties from Zara (last season) but found similar ones from Nordstrom. I did a really girly look when it came to hair and makeup and I really like how it all came together, I think it was a feminine effortless look with a little grunge flair with the cardigan and boots. A "fall look" for sure!

The Las Vegas Zoo... ;)

So last week David and I decided to take Liliana to the zoo here in Las Vegas. I had heard of it from a friend who visited the zoo recently but didn't really ask how it was, I just figured since Lili and I love animals, the zoo would be a hit....

You know its a bad sign when you literally have to climb over an elephant carcass to gain entrance to the local zoo, only to see that the Welcome to the Zoo sign is spray painted on particle board and you think to yourself "where the eff am I? And should I really be taking my child here?" But Lili really wanted to go so like any good mama would, I plopped her on the "sleeping" elephant and snapped a pic for her baby book.

Okay, Im exaggerating a little but seriously, not that much at all. There were no dead elephants, at least none in plain sight, but it certainly was a pretty strange zoo. As we were walking in there was a cute little garden looking entrance, a small habitat of flamingos and turtles, but this was by far their best work.

"NO REFUNDS!" was the first sign we see approaching the payment window, this should have tipped us off, It didn't, we walk in and as part of the first exhibit we see three hundred pigeons eating all of the food being sold for the "petting zoo" portion of the zoo, which seriously included 4 goats. We decided that maybe the petting zoo was a little rough looking for Lili so we were going to tour the rest of the zoo first.

We started by visiting with two huge ostriches, one looked semi normal and the other had a serious skin condition and was missing many feathers, she was also pretty aggressive. I walked over with goat feed in my hands and she started, pecking/thrusting her face at the fence trying to break through to me. It was a pretty decent exhibit and there were two large ostrich eggs out front which were cool to see. After feeding her (Mama Ostrich) a snack, we moved on...

There were some interesting birds next and David played them some appropriate music, they danced. Next was one monkey that you could look at through a really dirty glass window, Lili made some Monkey noises at him, he kept looking back over his shoulder while just sitting there twiddling his toes, he was really cute.

Next, they did have an alligator which Lili seemed to really like. She got pretty close to the glass to look at him and he was staring back at her, I freaked and David laughed. I'm a very protective mama and I owe it to my own mom, thanks Col! Next we saw a wild cat sleeping and some empty habitats. We went through the reptile house which had a few snakes and a few more empty cages, and that was about it at the Fabulous Las Vegas Zoo!!

As we are walking out of the exit we see one last sign. Have you ever been to a zoo that posted signs encouraging their patrons to inquire about adopting the zoo animals? I have! I mean seriously, you can adopt zoo animals? My friend swears the alligator had been adopted because his "habitat" was empty when she visited, however the family must not have like him very much because he was back in time for our visit.

Just before you walk out there is a little gift shop incase you wanted to purchase a keepsake from this fabulous day at the zoo, we did not! Last but not least there was a donation box! I donated and if I have not totally scared you off, you should donate also, the Las Vegas Zoo could in all seriousness use donations, those poor animals need a serious revamp of their home! I honestly wonder if maybe the horrible condition of the zoo was all some sort of strategic way of getting the patrons to donate, if so, fab idea! Worked on me! You can check out the Zoo's webpage HERE!

 Enjoy the pictures...
