Beauty Secret #1...Beachy Boho waves with clip in extensions...

So as most of you know, I work at XS nightclub, where we are required to look "red carpet ready" every night for work. The picture below is my short hair usual look for work. There is only so much you can do with shoulder length hair, so I decided to buy clip in hair extensions that I can use to switch of my look for work. Most celebrity red carpet looks are done with clip in and or semi permanent extensions, here is my version! (This picture was for DeadMau5 At XS memorial day weekend!)

The hair I bought was called Remy Human Hair. I chose the 18inch extensions which you can purchase here for $149.99. I brought the hair to my hair dress Lacey at Ritual salon in Tivolli Village, and she cut them to blend with my hair. She was able to blend them without cutting into my actual hair! I didn't have to color the extensions as they matched perfectly.

So from this point I wash my hair and the extensions, spray Its a 10 lite (pictured below), which is a leave in conditioner with so many other benefits, from Ulta and blow-dry as usual. I prefer to blow-dry upside down running my fingers through my hair. When my hair is 80% dry, I use a ceramic round brush like this one to shape my hair and dry it completely.

Once my hair is dry and the extensions are clean and dry, I section my hair and start teasing and clipping in the tracks. I use a 3 row teasing comb pictured on bottom right. You can find this type of teaser comb here for under $2.50. I also use Big Sexy dry shampoo which I purchase in cases of 6 from Amazon.com. Be sure to tease and spray each section before clipping to keep the tracks from slipping.

Once the extensions are secure it is time to style. I have tried many different curling/waving wands and I found that the conair infinity curler is cheapest and actually produces the best waves. You can purchase the wand here for $44.99. It has 3 different temperatures and heats super fast. I put it on the highest setting and begin wrapping my hair. I take 1.5 inch sections and start about 2 inches from the root. I wrap to the bottom of my hair, hold for 20 seconds and continue until all of my hair is curled.

I then spray with a finishing spray, I prefer this one by Redken, and you are finished! Beachy bohemian waves!

  2. I blow dry upside down which adds initial volume and then the dry shampoo is like nothing I have ever used, it is the most amazing product in my opinion. My hair is pretty fine and super silky so it makes it feel a totally different texture but I seriously can't live without it!
